Our Alzner design arch supports are
biomechanically designed to position the bones, ligaments, muscles and tendons
of the foot (foot corrector) and properly align the body using a unique shape
and design that has many advantages. The
waffle shaped indentations on the bottom of the device provide structural
support and combined with a vented surface, creates a vacuum in the square
cavities allowing air to circulate around the plantar surface of the foot.
This feature creates a comfortable
environment for the wearer even during temperature extremes.
The high metatarsal rise provides support
to the forefoot, essential for proper structural alignment of the foot.
The sides and bottoms are contoured based
on the standards most shoe manufacturers use, allowing the device to be worn
in most types of footwear. The
device is constructed to be lightweight, very flexible and virtually
unbreakable.
The metatarsal rise and convex shape supports all
four arches of the foot better than some of the more expensive, custom-made
orthotics. The
material has been selected to be both strong enough to support the body, and
flexible enough to provide a healthful massaging action during walking.
A waffle design on the base of the support
provides strength and the holes within the design allows for ventilation of
the plantar surface of the foot. A
few things you should know before purchasing an arch support.
One size does not fit all. This is
especially true with arch supports. Shoe
size and arch size are not the same thing. Toes
can be long or short – I might have a long arch and short toes while you have
a short arch and long toes. We
would both wear the same shoe size – but not the same arch support size.
Because size is so important, our arch
support sizes are more precise than shoe sizes. The
more support you have – the more critical it is to have the correct size arch
support. When
the metatarsal rise is in the wrong place it can be uncomfortable and will be
ineffective. How much
support do you need? The
support and level of firmness you need will vary with your body type, life
style, and age.
What is an Alzner Design Arch Support? The Sundance!
The Alzner design arch support shoe insert is a
robust premolded orthotic device that supports the three major arches in the
foot. It is made from a semi rigid co-polymer material that is designed to
flex along with the foots' arch. The Sundance goes well beyond a regular
arch support and other orthotics in performance, fit, comfort and durability.
It is designed to fit in athletic shoes, dress shoes, boat shoes (Topsiders),
and womens heeled shoes (2" maximum height).
What's the theory behind the Alzner Arch Support?
George Alzner back in the late 1940's determined
after years of research that the best way to fix the abnormalities that
developed with the foot is to restore it to it's most natural position. The
'Sundance' was designed to re-position the bones, ligaments, muscles and
tendons of the foot to thier proper place and to limit rotation of the foot
due to the stretching of the arch. If the foot over time changes in a
detrimental way by wearing shoes with minimual or no arch support, improperly
fitting, excessively worn footware or by going barefoot on hard
surfaces...then the bones, ligiments, muscles and tendons could with a
correctly designed orthotic device under a controled wearing schedule be
re-trained to their natural position. The Alzner design arch support inserts
are foot correctors in that they help to control or limit undesired foot
motion. The goal is to maintain a balanced and shock absorbing foundation
(the feet) for the human body to move with grace and without pain.

Who Can Wear Alzner Supports?
Anyone with a realitively normal foot with a low,
medium or high arch. My
Healthy Foot arch support inserts
can accommodate narrow to wide feet. Most people that 'pronate' are good
canidates for Alzner arch support inserts. This is about 75% of the population.
Who May Not Be Able To Wear Alzner Arch Supports?
People with rigid high arches, highly sensitive
flat feet, diabetics, deformed and injured feet are not good candidates to
wear our Alzner design arch support inserts. Severe foot problems should
always be treated by skilled and licensed health care professional.
